Great way to have precisely selected complicated shapes is ... to paint them by brush in quick mask mode. What is all about? let me explain.
Suposing we want to select a persons skin from picture - only skin without eyes, lips, eyebrows, eyelashes. So, we use previously described tool, lasso and we select (outline) face with necy and cleavage. we tray to do this exactly, however me will make corrections later.
OK. We have selection. Now we go to quick mask mode. To do this we simply click ona a darkgrey square with bright circle in the center. (bottom side of menu)
...or press button Q
No. no. It is not red courtain;) We just had entered in a quick mask mode.
Ewerything what is selected is visible, rest is covered by half-transparency red colour. I am wondering that everyone saw that after changing working mode on this tool foreground colour and background colour has changed for blac and white. (squares in left-bottom panel) Very good. we need only this colours.
Everything what we paint black - will be removed from selection and everything what we paint white will be added to selection. Colour what we are curently use is always on a foreground square. To change order of this squares (white on a top, black on a bottom) simply click on a two-sided arrow near this squares. So, took brush
into your hands and let's go.
We paint eyes with eyebrows and other unnecessary elements. I suggest to do this in a large zoom, changing size of a head brush by pressing RMB and use diameter or enter proper value in field Master Diameter). If we want to add something to selection - we paint thoose places white colour.
When we finish we again click QAnd we can see wat we have done.
Enough for now.
To cancel all selections we have made (deselect all) press: Ctrl + D
